Home

This is the December Update for the Davis Bicycle! Contest.

We have Winners for the November Contest! Winners, check your email, we sent you a verification slip that needs to be signed by a parent/guardian and then returned to your school organizer.

New Grand Prize Added!
Saveagallon.org is donating a $100 Gamestop gift certificate.
Don't forget to checkout the growing prize list regularly.

March is Music Madness Month.
We are having a special contest for a Watermelon music gift certificate in March. Send us original music you've created(as an mp3), loosely based on alternate transportation, and we'll post it for everyone to listen to. The Official Judge will pick a winner in March! Email us your file before March 1st to be considered.
We'll have more info next month!

Slight adjustment to your miles.
You may have noticed a sudden drop in your team miles last month. We discovered a number of users who back-dated miles before the contest began. What we did was subtract any team miles posted before October 19th, 2009. Your personal miles are unaffected.

Reminders:
  1. This is a contest for K-12 students in Davis Joint Unified School District. Students only!
  2. You must log miles at least 5 days out of every month to qualify for the Monthly Random Prize.
  3. Contest Dates are October 19th, 2009 to May 31st, 2010.
What miles count in the contest?
Well, any mileage substituting for a trip that normally uses a gas-powered family car qualifies.
For example, these all count as Saveagallon.org miles.
  • Bike/walk to school.
  • Biking to soccer, music, theater, etc...
  • Bus or train taking you to non-school activities.
  • Carpooling*.
* Carpooling is a tricky one. If two or more non-related students are in a car, that counts. Parents driving their children DOES NOT count. However if they stopped and picked up two of your friends, your friends could count that trip as carpooling, but you cannot. If this is too complicated, jump on your bike. That ALWAYS counts. School, sports, and other organized trips that normally use some form of mass transit such as carpool, buses, trains, or air travel also do not count.
